ballet
My photography is an extension of my career in dance, from a desire to capture ballet not just as watched, but as felt. My greatest inspiration is the relationship between the human form and the natural world. I am drawn to how organic lines, raw textures, and vast scales of nature mirror, challenge, and elevate the dancing body. Having spent years in the studio and on stage, I seek the grit behind the effortless grace. By placing the human form in empty studios, natural landscapes, and cityscapes, I try to strip away the traditional boundaries imposed by a theater stage. Playing with natural light, shadow, and movement, these photographs explores the ephemeral beauty of the dancer in landscape.
